Cribs confirm new album producer

Band reveal who will be helming their next effort

The Cribs have confirmed that the man who will produce their next studio album will be Nick Launay.

Launey has previously produced for acts including Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds and Arcade Fire.

The band recently road-tested new material set for the album on a short UK tour. They told NME.COM that the album, which will be the first with former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr in the band, would be likely to be released in the later half of 2009.

Speaking about playing the new songs live, bassist Gary Jarman told NME.COM: "These shows aren't necessarily to showcase the new songs but when we made the last couple of records we did it without playing the songs live.

"We've found that when you tour and play songs they get a bit more aggressive, it's the only way to get the spirit out of them. You always regret not having gigged new songs before recording them, so we made sure we'd do a few shows to make sure we get that this time."

The Cribs played a show at the London Heaven venue last night (February 10), during which they slammed a security guard for being violent with a fan.

They'll need the greatest fucking producer in the world to try and get those vocals sounding decent. A shocking excuse for a singer. Forshame Johnny. Why?
