The Cribs to give away track from brand new album - exclusive download The Cribs Tickets

Get your hands on the first cut from the Johnny Marr-enhanced 'Ignore The Ignorant' now

The Cribs are giving away a brand new album track, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.

The have decided to make 'We Were Aborted' available as a download from today (July 7). The track will only be available for 24 hours.

The song is the first material to be taken from the band's fourth album 'Ignore The Ignorant', the group's first to feature Johnny Marr as a full member.

Speaking about the track, Ryan Jarman told NME.COM: "'We Were Aborted' is the first song that The Cribs ever wrote with Johnny, literally the first thing we did, just plugged in and this came straight out. I think that because of that it has retained a lot of urgency which is something we have always tried to maintain. That said, it's not the track most representative of the new record by any means, I think it's the one that most people will recognise as The Cribs opposed to some of the other tracks on the record though."

To download the track head to Thecribs.com now.

'Ignore The Ignorant' is released on September 7.

Great... The return of the dullest band in the UK. The Cribs are to punk what The Lighthouse Family are to Rock. And Johnny... What you doing mate? this is embarrassing for any fan of the Smiths. Mid-life Crisis?

I don't think you can call The Cribs dull, that's a terrible shout Clousty, and since when can a mere mortal question the actions of God's representative on earth Johnny Marr?

...i still can't get over how utterly fucking shite the track Man's Needs is.....and i'm also confused as to what on earth Johnny Marr is doing with these bunch of no-marks...

This is one of the best singles I've heard in ages, great stuff. Shame the rest of the album apprently won't be like it, seems to be a bit of a trait at the moment to try and be different. Don't worry about it boys, just do what you do best, get fucking noisy. Anywho, still looking forward to hearing it.

PS. I love The Smiths, I really do, and I agree Johnny is amazing. But why oh why is he doing this? At least keep some credibility. It stinks.

I just think the Cribs are incredibly average. They're not exciting in any way. The songs the write, the way they look. It's all just by numbers. I heard them being described as 'The original indie landfill godfathers.' I couldn't agree more. I find it kinda sad that they always count on famous friends to get any kind of press, be it Alex Kapranos, Kate Nash or Jonnney Marr. I think there's way better bands that do what the Cribs do but way better. I could list 100.As a buyer of NME I get tired of the amount of coverage they get when most people find them incredibly dull. NME have been bigging them up for about 6 years now and it's getting tedious. Time to move on lads.... it's painful. I don't hate The Cribs I just think they're painfully dull. Pub rock at best.

I can think of at least ten other bands of the top of my heads that are duller then The Cribs, they are far from that especially with Marr on board.

The Cribs are not dull. If you don't like them just don't listen to them and don't read news about them.We were aborted is not a bad song, but sounds too american to me.

Great song from one of the best bands of the decade in my opinion. RJ Cloust if you take the time to find out and reason you'll see that the likes of Marr and Kapranos are fans of the Cribs music, why else would 'famous friends' risk reputation to work with them? Press? They're hardly releasing collaborations with Jay-Z or falling out of strip joints with Lilly fucking Allen. But put some effort in...'most people find them incredibly dull'? Nice one. Most people find you incredibly dull. Clearly i'm a fan..........

RJCloust what the fuck are you talking about? The music speaks for itself, they don't need to rely on any famous mates. Seriously, go to one of their gigs then tell me they're dull. They're the best band around in Britain today.I for one love this song, and eagerly await Ignore The Ignorant which will undoubtedly blow the mainstream wank out of the water.
