The Cribs' Gary Jarman has issued a statement about his recent throat operation to remove nodules from his vocal chords.

The singer and bassist had surgery on Monday (July 13) at an undisclosed location.

In an email to fans on The Cribs' mailing list, Jarman explained that although the operation was a success, he is now not allowed to speak for two weeks. He stated that the procedure's success was "a massive weight off my mind", before explaining that he has been struggling with his vocals since touring with The Cribs in 2005.

"You may have noticed that my once youthful sounding cherub-like voice from the first album has, over the course of three records, degenerated into the grizzled, bitter old man voice of today. Well, no more! I am currently mute, unable to speak for the next couple of weeks, and on a heady mixture of Vicodin and Throat Coat tea."

Jarman went on to reveal that Adam Green and Lissy Trullie will support the band on their UK tour starting this September. He also confirmed that the band have convinced cult act Comet Gain to support them at their London HMV Forum show on October 15.

In further news about The Cribs' new album 'Ignore The Ignorant', the band have announced that they are to release a limited edition, regional version of the record entitled 'The Roses Edition'.

The special edition album will only be available to buy from record stores in the band's home regions of Yorkshire (Ross and Ryan Jarman), Lancashire (Johnny Marr) and Portland, Oregon (Gary Jarman). It will be housed in a black box containing a copy of the album, a 'Making Of' documentary DVD and an audio-only version of the band's Manchester Ritz shows (which took place on February 6 and 7).
