The Cribs, Los Campesinos! and Frightened Rabbit's Coachella festival (April 16-18) performances are in doubt due to the volcanic ash that has grounded all flights to and from the UK.
All airports in the UK plus several other European countries have suspended flights today (April 16) as a safety precaution while ash from a volcanic eruption in Iceland drifts south across Europe.
The Cribs were due to fly to the US from Heathrow Airport at 11:50am (BST) this morning, but despite boarding their plane and even choosing an in-flight meal, bassist and singer Gary Jarman told BBC Newsbeat that the band's flight was grounded due to safety fears.
"I'd decided which films I was going to see, chosen my meal and was just falling asleep then I got told we had to get off the plane," he explained adding that the atmosphere at the airport was "angry", and that the band "were a little stressed". They are currently due to play the festival tomorrow (16).
"It's a force of nature, you can't really argue with that," Jarman added of the ash. "I know there are a lot of British bands playing [Coachella]. I kind of hope a few other bands are having problems so we can steal their set time - I know that sounds selfish."
At 6:30pm (BST) this evening a spokesperson for The Cribs told NME.COM that the band are now driving to Amsterdam where they will hope to catch a flight to the US tomorrow.
Meanwhile, both Frightened Rabbit and Los Campesinos! have updated their Twitter pages to say they've been delayed too.
A Tweet from Los Campesinos! read: "Me and Neil [guitarist] just got interviewed for CNN. Tried to link this volcano business to that Polish fella dying. Think she bought it."
Other UK artists playing Coachella including Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke Muse, Gorillaz, Florence And The Machine, The Specials and Little Boots are all understood to have already arrived in the US.
Hadouken! have cancelled their appearance at the festival due to visa issues.
