The Cribs' Ryan Jarman has revealed that he will be playing his very first solo show this weekend in New York.

The guitarist and vocalist will be playing the Cameo Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on August 4. He announced the news via his Twitter page, saying "I'll be playing new songs and old..." and writing:

The Cribs released their latest album 'In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull' in May of this year. After the release, Ryan Jarman admitted that its predecessor, 2009's 'Ignore The Ignorant', was "a little too clean".

In an interview with Drowned In Sound, the frontman said he felt their new album had a rawer, more organic sound.

"The last record, as much as I enjoyed making it at the time, is a little too clean for my taste, or what I would listen to," he said. "With this record we definitely wanted to go back to a more organic approach. For us, the main thing was making sure all the songs were completely finished, totally rehearsed in the rehearsal room before we went in the studio so that we could spend less time in the studio."

The singer also revealed that the band had songs leftover from recording sessions with producer Steve Albini that felt like "the germination of a new album".
