The Cribs have unveiled the video for 'Leather Jacket Love Song'.

Scroll down to watch the promo, which sees modern day footage of the band cut into camcorder clips of them rehearsing in 1997.

The video was directed by Andy Knowles, who says: "When The Cribs showed me footage of them as kids rocking out in a rehearsal room, it was obvious to us all that a music video had to be made with the content. After conversations with the band and watching VHS tapes of old footage, we made a start on a treatment which would be an ideal way to celebrate their best of album 'Payola'."

He added: "Despite its lo-fi, VHS look, the video uses a sophisticated mix of visual effects, hidden cuts, lookalikes and set decoration to sell the illusion that two generations of Cribs are performing together at the same time. We went to great lengths to re-create the rehearsal room and gig venue from 1997."

Speaking to NME about the fan favourite track, Ryan Jarman said: "I do love leather jackets, but this is not specifically a love song to a leather jacket. It's just a typical love song, like a lot of our songs. We wrote it after we finished 'Ignore The Ignorant', so it's the last song with Johnny [Marr] on it. It never got released, despite the fact that everyone loved it, because we made a fresh start with [2012 album] '...Brazen Bull'. It's a three-minute punk rock song, typically Cribs-y."

'Leather Jacket Love Song' features on The Cribs forthcoming best of, 'Payola', which is out on February 25.

The Cribs play London's O2 Brixton Academy on February 22 as part of the NME Awards Shows, alongside And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Deap Vally and The Drenge.
