The Cribs will release their sixth studio album with new label Sony RED in spring 2015.

This means that the band are no longer working with Wichita Recordings, their home since 2004 when they released their self-titled debut album.

Confirming the news of the change in label, The Cribs' manager James Sandom told Music Week: "After a very enjoyable decade together with Wichita, the band felt the fresh impetus and a new approach would be advantageous for their sixth studio album. They have huge respect for Wichita, and fond memories of their achievements together."

It was recently revealed that Ric Ocasek of 1980s new wave pop band The Cars will produce The Cribs' next album, their first studio album since 2012's 'In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull'.

Speaking to NME, Ryan Jarman discussed Ocasek, who has also produced albums by Weezer and Guided By Voices. "He doesn't do records like a gun for hire; he chooses a band. We've been trying to get him since the third record, now he thinks we're definitely good enough."

Speaking further about the band's next LP, Jarman added: "We've got enough songs for it, we're just finalising things: we'll record in October. It's influenced by all the stuff we've been listening to – The Replacements and 80s pop basically."

In 2012 The Cribs released 'Payola', a collection of their singles and b-sides.
