[a]Cult[/a] reform for world tour and album...
THE CULT are to reform for a world tour and will release an album later this year.
The goth rock combo gave the first hint of their plans after singer Ian Astbury, guitarist Billy Duffy and latter-day drummer Matt Sorum reunited onstage for the first time in four years last week at a gig at Johnny Depp's Viper Room Club in Los Angeles where they played two Cult songs, 'Wild Flower' and 'Love Removal Machine'.
They were joined by Sorum's bandmates from the 'supergroup' outfit Neurotic Outsiders, which also features Sorum's former Guns N'Roses bandmate Duff McKagan, Sex Pistol Steve Jones and Duran Duran's John Taylor.
A spokesperson for the band told NME that The Cult reunion was now officially on.
He said: "All plans are still on the drawing board at the moment, but they'll probably tour the US this summer, then come over for a European jaunt in the autumn. They then plan to record a live album, which they'll release at the end of the year."
He said that no new studio material had been planned as yet and that even though the band currently had no record deal, he imagined an American label would soon snap them up as they were still hugely popular in the States.
