The Cure head into the studio
The Cure are to begin work on a new album early next year.

The group with enter the studio in January to start work on the follow-up to last year’s ‘The Cure’, according to a post from singer Robert Smith.

“We are still on course for a summer release, as it's all in the preparation," Smith wrote on the band’s website Cure.com

This album will be the first since keyboardist Roger O'Donnell and guitarist Perry Bamonte left The Cure earlier this year and will feature former guitarist Porl Thompson, who recently rejoined the band, Billboard reports.

Smith added that he has been working on a live DVD and “writing some film music".

In the meantime The Cure are expected to release expanded reissues of albums ‘The Top’, ‘The Head on the Door’ and ‘Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me’, plus Glove’s ‘The Blue Sunshine’ – a 1983 band featuring of Smith, Siouxsie and Banshees bassist Steve Severin – next year.
