THE DARKNESS GET FREDDIE'S HELP The Darkness Tickets

The band begin work on their second album…

THE DARKNESS GET FREDDIE'S HELP

The Darkness have started work on the follow-up to ’PERMISSION TO LAND’ with a little bit of inspiration from the late FREDDIE MERCURY.

The band are currently working in the same studio in which Queen recorded ’Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Singer Justin Hawkins said: “Studio stuff is going well. It’s about the biggest drum sound you’ll ever hear on a rock record and that’s all there is to it at the moment. We’re in the same studio that they recorded ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in, so I’m using Freddie’s piano and stuff.”

He added: “All of it’s sounding very, very good. The songs are strong and we’re not gonna rush it, so don’t hold your breath. All the drums are done now, some of the piano, and some of the guitars, but obviously my part goes on last. I get the glory run.”

Speaking to Xfm, Hawkins explained what he has been doing with his spare time, saying: “So I’ve just been getting measured, working out, and that’s it. Just trying to keep fit and practising my dancing. Just keeping my hand as it were. It’s been a bit of a holiday so far really.”

As previously reported on NME.COM, Hawkins is featuring in a new exhibition at Madame Tussauds in London.

A waxwork of the singer is featured in ’Air Guitar Star’, which began today (March 17).

As part of the exhibition, visitors will be able to learn air guitar on a stage inspired by Wembley.
