The frontman reveals just how bad things got for the band...
The Darkness’ frontman JUSTIN HAWKINS has revealed how he came close to quitting the band himself when relations within the band broke down.
Bass player Frankie Poullain was sacked in May over 'musical differences'. However, Hawkins has now told the BBC that Poullain was merely "a certain item that's been replaced".
He added: "It wasn't a nice situation. There was a wedge being driven between myself and my brother (guitarist Dan Hawkins) and that's the relationship I've had with him all his life. It really was an awful, awful environment.
"You've got to be a band that has longevity and enjoys your career and if that involves a personnel change then so be it. You mustn't let anyone stand in the way of what's the best job in the world."
The Darkness release their second album this autumn.
