The Death Set's Beau Velasco dies

Bandmates say they are 'devastated' at his passing

The Death Set's Beau Velasco has passed away, according to a statement on the band's website.

Details about Velasco's death are scarce at the moment, but the website states that he passed away in New York on Sunday (September 27). The statement, written by bandmember Johnny Siera reads:

"R.I.P. my dear brother, friend and band mate Beau Velasco. We are all so devastated that I will keep this short. We love you and you will be missed. You affected us all so much in the most positive ways. Our lives would not be as is if not for you. We love you. For all those who wish to pay their respects we will let the details be known soon."

Velasco co-wrote The Death Set's 2008 album 'Worldwide' with Siera. When the band moved from Sydney to the US in 2005, Velasco took a break from touring with the band. However, a further statement on said: "The original core lineup [including Velasco] of the band had recently rejoined to write and record the next record and to resume touring together."
