They help out their hometown with compilation

The Decemberists, The Thermals and Viva Voce are among the artists to feature on a charity covers album to be released next month.

‘Bridging the Distance: A Portland, OR Covers Compilation’ also features tracks from Death Cab For Cutie’s Christopher Walla and and will benefit ‘p:ear’, a mentoring programme for homeless and transitional youths specialising in helping to bridge financial and class distances.

The 19-track album includes covers of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘ ‘Think About Me’, Led Zeppelin's ‘Tangerine’ and The Cult's ‘She Sells Sanctuary’.
