THE DOORS ARE OPEN AGAIN!

And Jim Morrison's replacement? Step forward Ian Astbury...

THE DOORS ARE OPEN AGAIN!

THE DOORS are planning a reunion tour - over 30 years after the death of singer JIM MORRISON.

Band members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger have announced via the group's official website, www.thedoors.com, that a show has been confirmed to take place on September 6 at the California Motor Speedway just outside LA County.

Original drummer John Densmore is also likely to play, although his participation will be confirmed nearer the time due to a health problem.

A number of singers are expected to lend vocal parts at the show, although the majority will be sung by [a][/a] vocalist Ian Astbury.

Plans are reportedly underfoot for more dates, including European shows in spring 2003, with a new album to follow.

The band's singer Jim Morrison died in a Paris apartment on July 3 1971 at the age of 27. Following his death, he was buried in the city's Pere Lachaise cemetery, which has since become a shrine for fans and one of Paris's main tourist attractions.
