The Drums' Jonathan Pierce has claimed that playing in London is like returning to 'a second home' for the band, and promised that they'd showcase never-before-played tracks from 'Portamento' when they hit the UK in 2012.

Talking to NME, the singer said that they were planning on "putting the guitars down" and playing some more synth-based material when they play the NME Awards Show at London Roundhouse on February 27, 2012.

"I think it's going to be a very nostalgic sort of audience for us," he said. "I think you guys [in the UK] got the rest of the world excited about what we were doing."

He then revealed that the band were planning on playing previously unperformed tracks from their second album 'Portamento', which they released in September, stating:

I think there is some heavy synth stuff we actually haven't played at all yet live. It'll definitely be a debut of the stuff we've shied away from and we need to deal with. I feel like it'll be slightly embarrassing but we've always thought that if the feeling isn't just a little bit embarrassing, then you probably shouldn't be singing at all.

However, the singer did rule out the chance of the band returning to the studio anytime soon, insisting that the band wouldn't be rushing to record a follow-up.

When asked if they were planning on taking a break, he replied:

"Absolutely. I think we didn't think things through 100% when we were working 'Portamento'. We didn't really know that we were diving into a new album."

The Drums are due to play an NME Awards Show at London Roundhouse on Feburary 27, 2012, where they're expected to play more tracks from their new album. To check the availability of NME Awards London Shows tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0844 858 6765.
