The band take requests at intimate performance

The Duke Spirit make triumphant SXSW return
The Duke Spirit returned to South by Southwest yesterday (March 21), performing a handful of shows in the Texas capitol.

The London-based band, who have attended the festival numerous times and played NME's SXSW showcase last year, performed an intimate midday set. The band gave it their all, despite the early timeslot and jetlag, having just arrived in Austin the day before.

A few songs in, frontwoman Leila Moss asked the crowd for requests. "What shall we play?" she asked. "We haven't thought much beyond that."

The crowd shouted back song titles, with one audience member yelling, "Shake it, London!"

Earlier in the day, the band told NME.COM a few of their tricks for surviving the gruelling festival schedule. "Just keep drinking and you'll be fine," said guitarist Luke Ford.

"You just have to dive right into the deep end," added Moss. "Make your list of bands to see and go."

The band added that this year's SXSW has already been action-packed, having seen Metallica deliver an amazing performance, a couple having sex in a portaloo, and Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie taking a dip in their hotel pool.

The Duke Spirit played:

'Lassoo'
'Step And The Walk'
'This Ship Was Built To Last'
'Red Weather'
'Into The Fold'
