Editors inspire chaos in New York

Plus there’s more UK dates

Demand from US fans has caused chaos on the Editors current US tour.

The band, who sold out two appearances in Los Angeles at Spaceland and Cinespace (January 16 and 17), were forced to change venue three times when they played in New York at the weekend.

The first show in the city, at the Mercury Lounge on January 20, drew a line of people around the block, after which the band was then booked to play a second New York show at weekly Saturday night party (January 21) Tiswas, at new Lower East Side club The Annex.

However when word got out that the band were performing, the show was moved to the Hiro Ballroom at the Maritime Hotel to accommodate the massive demand for tickets.

In the end, the Hiro Ballroom was unable to accommodate the club’s schedule, and so the show was forced to take place at The Annex as initially planned.

Editors then faced more venue drama as arriving for their soundcheck, when singer Tom Smith discovered that the new club “didn’t have any walls or something”, forcing a final and successful move to the Rothko club

Despite the booking confusion, Editors still played to a packed out audience, before heading to an aftershow featuring a DJ set by New Order’s Peter Hook.

In keeping with the evening’s theme the party was also moved, taking place at yet another venue, Fontana's.

Meanwhile the band who are second in the UK album charts, have added a new dates to their forthcoming UK tour.
