Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster: 'The Nike advert gave us more exposure than we'd ever had before'
Newly-reformed Brighton noise band say advert gave them 'perspective' on their split
The newly-reformed Brighton noise band will play their first dates since splitting in 2011 this October. The group have seen a surge in popularity since the song 'Chicken', from their 2002 debut 'Horse Of The Dog' was used in a Nike's 'My Time Is Now' advertising campaign.
Speaking to NME, singer Guy McKnight said: "The Nike advert came about quite unexpectedly recently and we just thought, well at the moment there's like seventeen million hits on the advert. That's more exposure than we've ever had before".
He added: "It certainly gave us food for thought and put things into perspective. You know – squabbling about something that happened seven years ago".
When asked if a new album would be on the cards following the reunion, McKnight said it was "too early to say", but added that the band still had "plenty more to do".
The reunion marks the return of guitarists Marc Norris, who left the band in 2010 and Andy Huxley, who left in 2005. The band released three albums in their career, 'Horse Of The Dog', 'The Royal Society' in 2004 and 'Blood And Fire' in 2010.
