The Enemy, Lethal Bizzle and The Wombats hit the road together in Oxford

The Enemy kicked off this year’s O2 NME Rock'N'Roll Riot Tour with a storming set in Oxford tonight (September 27).

Playing the newly opened Carling Academy in the city, the band stormed through songs from their debut album ’We’ll Live And Die In These Towns’, enjoying loud sing-a-longs from the audience.

With Liverpool’s The Wombats opening the show, they avoided the fate of many support bands by attracting a large crowd to the venue early to see them. Also, Lethal Bizzle made the most of the swelling numbers, leading the crowd through chants of, "Fuck the police," as he played forthcoming single ’Police On My Back’ during an incendiary set.

The Enemy then brought out Oxford’s more tuneful side, with the Coventry three-piece enjoying a venue full of backing singers for the likes of ’Had Enough’, before rounding things off with a storming encore of ‘Happy Birthday Jane’ and closer ’You’re Not Alone’.
