Hadouken! also star at Barfly showcase gig

The Enemy played one of their smallest gigs in months as they took part in the second night (October 24) of the BBC Electric Proms 2007.

The Coventry three-piece played a mid-evening set at the Barfly in London, a significant contrast to the band's last gig in the capital which saw them headline Brixton Academy on the O2 presents NME Rock N Roll Riot Tour.

Sacrificing a day off, the band played the new music showcase gig alongside Leeds newcomers Hadouken!.

Kicking off with 'Away From Here', frontman Tom Clarke told the crowd he enjoyed the return to the sweaty venue.

"We played Brixton Academy last week but this is much better," he told the audience before launching into '40 Days And 40 Nights'.

Later, Clarke dedicated 'Aggro' to a crowd member with a giant mop of curly blonde hair, declaring "this is for the guy in the wig", before the punter lent forward to show him his scalp.

"Fair play," The Enemy man then noted, as his band started the song. "It's real hair!"

With 'This Song Is About You' ending with just the audience providing hand clap percussion, the band then rounded off their set tearing through a strong 'It's Not OK', a heartfelt version 'Happy Birthday Jane' and stomping closer 'You're Not Alone'.

"We started out playing places like this," Clarke told the crowd. "So it's amazing to finish off the tour here, thanks!"

The Enemy played:

'Away From Here'
'40 Days And 40 Nights'
'Pressure'
'Technophobic'
'Had Enough'
'Aggro'
'We'll Live And Die In These Towns'
'This Song Is About You'
'It's Not OK'
'Happy Birthday Jane'
'You're Not Alone'

Earlier, Hadouken! opened proceedings, playing at the unexpectedly early time of 7.15pm (BST).

Though the venue was only beginning to fill up, the Leeds new ravers still put in a suitably energetic performance.

"See if you can bounce up and down to this one," frontman James Smith dared the growing crowd ahead of 'Bounce', before dedicating 'Liquid Lives' to "all the drinkers out there".

Hadouken! played:

'Superstar'
'Declaration Of War'
'Tuning In'
'Leap Of Faith'
'Bounce'
'Liquid Lives'
'That Boy That Girl'
