Enemy's Tom Clarke says 'bollocks' to Oasis dispute The Enemy Tickets

Frontman claims he was misunderstood

The Enemy's Tom Clarke has said that reports that he had said that Oasis were "past it" are "bollocks".

Oasis' singer Liam Gallagher called Clarke a "little fucker" after interpreting an interview by Clarke as the Coventry-born frontman slagging off the Manchester outfit.

However, in a statement issued today (May 20) Clarke has claimed that he didn't criticise the band.

"That's complete and utter bollocks!" he said in the statement, referring to Gallagher's interpretation. "Oasis have been and still are one of my favourite bands ever. It's an absolute honour for them to invite us onto their tour, I can't wait! Oasis past it? Not a fuckin' chance!"

The Enemy are set to support Oasis at various UK stadium dates this summer, kicking off on June 4 at Manchester's Heaton Park.

I think in all fairness he was misunderstood and he's just clearing things up. Still... he's not come across well at all in this interview here.

im sure theres some people who just sit at home all day on NME.com waiting for tom clarke to say something so they can slag him off! he obviously wouldnt be thick enough to slag off oasis in the national press when the enemy are supporting them, so he blatently was just misunderstood!

As much as I hate the Enemy, Tom Clarke and all they stand for, if you read his comments it wasn't the slightest bit of an insult or a dig. He was trying to say that Noel is in the privelidged and well earned position of being able to play music for the love of playing music - not out of necessity, or the need to escape shit surroundings or a hard life. In a sense he was using Noel's position as something to aim for - that to have made it truly means you don't have to pick up your guitar because the bills need to be paid or the child needs shoes! Of course, we all know this is the worst place to be for a creative musician as necessity is the mother of invention! Oasis have proved this point brilliantly by not writing a single essential song since about 1997. Struggling artists make the best music! Stay poor Tom or your song's will get even shitter - rich people write songs like Little James!

...and I forgot to say, I love the way whenever someone slags or digs Oasis, their loyal (?!) fans jump right in to defend 'em like hyperactive guard dogs. Poor Liam and Noel, they're so bullied - if it wasn't for you guys they'd have probably lost their bottle years ago. Reminds me of the old Fast Show sketch with Ralph and Ted when some of Ralphs mates are picking on Ted and Ralph goes 'leave him alone LEAVE HIM ALONE' in the most camp aggressive way!
