The Enemy have moved their gigs at Coventry Cathdral Ruins next week (May 21 and 22) to the city's Kasbah venue.

The trio were due to play the outdoor hometown shows to celebrate the release of their new album 'Streets In The Sky'. However, they've been forced into the rethink due to "noise restrictions imposed by Coventry Council and certain health and safety aspects".

In a statement, the band said they were "devastated, just gutted" at being forced to pull the shows, but said they'd still play full sets at the Kasbah.

"The noise restrictions and some red tape the council and cathedral have imposed mean that we'll have to move the gig, at the eleventh hour. [We've] been left with no choice," they said. "We don't want to risk having to cancel the show on the morning if the council and the police decide not to grant a license. It's not fair to the fans who've spent their hard earned on tickets."

The band will refund a "chunk" of the ticket price to reflect the scaled-back nature of the gigs.

Meanwhile, speaking in the current issue of NME, frontman Tom Clarke hit out at Simon Cowell, branding him a "parasite". He said: "He wants a new Rolls-Royce, understandable, the new one looks amazing. But the X Factor is just the exploitation of people with miserable lives. He's [Cowell] a parasite off people who've had bad lives."

To read the rest of the interview, in which the band give more details about 'Streets In The Sky', pick up the new issue of NME, which is on newsstands now or available digitally.

They recorded their new 12-track album, which is the third of their career, with The Bronx's Joby Ford. You can watch the video for its first single, 'Gimme The Sign' and also hear the latest single 'Saturday' below.

The Enemy are playing at this year's T In The Park, which is taking place July 6-8 in Balado Park, Kinross. To check the availability of T In The Park 2012 tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.
