Flaming Lips' tune named official Oklahoma song
The rockers are honoured by their home state
The Flaming Lips' song 'Do You Realize??' has been named the official rock song of the state of Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma state legislature made the announcement today (March 2) following a selection process that involved Oklahomans voting for their favourite tune.
Residents of the state nominated 454 songs, which were narrowed down to 10 finalists, reports Tulsa World. Among the finalists were Elvis Presley's 'Heartbreak Hotel' and The Call's 'Oklahoma'. More than 21,000 Oklahomans participated in the voting process.
Meanwhile, The Flaming Lips are gearing up to perform at Vanderbilt University's Rites of Spring Festival in Nashville on April 17 and 18.
