The Flaming Lips have announced plans to record a 24-hour-song.

The move comes after the band recently recorded a six-hour-track to help the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma. Footage of that song 'Found A Star On The Ground', which has been described by the band as sounding like The Velvet Underground meets Super Mario Brothers can be heard by scrolling down and clicking below.

The band have now decided to lay down a full 24 hour track and encase five of the hard drive recordings in human skulls, reports O Music Awards. "It's a song about death and it's a song about fucking and it's a song about life," lead singer Wayne Coyne revealed.

"[As for purchasing the skulls] There's a place in town [Oklahoma City] that's called Skulls Unlimited that's been here for almost as long as The Flaming Lips have been here, and it sells human skulls," he added.

The song is currently untitled but is set to be released at midnight on Halloween (October 31).
