The Flaming Lips have found a novel way of letting fans hear their new album 'The Terror' in full without revealing the finished article.

The Oklahoma band recorded themselves playing the entire album live at last week's South By Southwest festival, and have put the audio up on SoundCoud. Scroll down to listen to the result.

At another South By Southwest date, The Flaming Lips treated fans to a nearly-full run-through of their 2002 album 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots', which you can watch by clicking the YouTube link below.

While in Austin, Texas, Coyne was also spotted at Justin Timberlake's MySpace Secret Show, where he told NME, "[Justin and I are] on a different trip but he put on a great show."

'The Terror' is set for an April 1 release on Bella Union. Speaking to NME Coyne says that the album represents the beginning of a new phase for the band.

Coyne says: "When we were making ‘The Soft Bulletin’ we didn’t think about making it, we just followed a sound. That really means rejecting all these other sounds. You might not know what you like, but you know what you hate. I think ‘The Terror’, in a sense, is the same thing. I don’t think people will look at like ‘The Soft Bulletin’, with whatever that means to people, but I think for us it feels like we’ve self-destructed again, not in the same way but with the same intensity. The minute we said: ‘This is how we’re gonna be as a band forever’, absolutely the next second we were completely different and utterly changed. I think we’re onto probably the third phase, the third version, of The Flaming Lips."

The band are set to appear in the UK for a couple of live dates to mark the album's release. The Flaming Lips will play:

London, Roundhouse (May 20, 21)
