The Flaming Lips have shared their psychedelic cover of The Beatles' 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'.

Coyne posted a link to the six-minute psychedelic reworking of the The Beatles' 1967 song on his Instagram account. The Flaming Lips' version was recorded as a preview of the band's forthcoming New Year's Eve show, at which they've promised to play a set comprising only late-era Beatles songs written by John Lennon.

According to The Future Heart, as well as Lennon's ode to LSD, The Flaming Lips, who are playing at Belly Up in Aspen, Colorado tonight (Dec 31), have been rehearsing 'Tomorrow Never Knows', 'Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey', 'Come Together', 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)', 'Across The Universe' and 'Dear Prudence'.

The band have also shared rehearsal footage from those tracks on their Instagram, which you can see below. The Oklahoma City outfit, who released their 13th album 'The Terror' in April 2013, are famed for their extravagant live shows, typically featuring glitter cannon, fake blood, costumes and Coyne walking across the crowd in a giant orb. Their New Year's Eve shows are historically even more elaborate.

In past years the band have performed albums in their entirety including their own album 'The Soft Bulletin' and Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. This evening's performance will be broadcast on SiriusXM satellite radio station.
