Futureheads play Glasgow shop gig

Band play for staff at the students' union store

The Futureheads played a gig for the staff at the Queen Margaret Union shop at Glasgow University yesterday (December 2).

Staff at the shop had won the NME Indie For Indies competition for great sales and promotion of the magazine in the shop - with a special gig by the Sunderland band the prize for the best-performing indie retailer.

The band played an "acoustic" show at the nearby Jim's Bar, with only Barry Hyde donning a guitar and the rest accompanying him with makeshift instruments.

Bassist Jaff attempted to play a water bottle as percussion as the four-some ran through songs including recent hit 'The Beginning Of The Twist' and their famous cover of Kate Bush's 'Hounds Of Love'.

The band joked around during the set and took requests, playing 'Radio Heart' for one vocal fan, which Hyde joked was a "stupid song that doesn't make sense".

The band hung around after the set to sign autographs for fans.
