The Game rejects plea deal

LA rapper says he won't plead guilty

The Game rejects plea deal

The Game rejected a Manhattan prosecutor's offer today (June 13) of a guilty plea for time already served.

The LA rapper, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was arrested on charges of impersonating a police officer last year.

He allegedly told a taxi driver that he was an undercover officer and convinced him to run a series of red lights.

"Why should he plead guilty to bogus charges for a non-jail sentence if he's innocent," said the rapper's attorney, Jeffrey Lichtman, outside the courtoom.

"And he is innocent. It's rare that I have a 100 percent innocent defendant, but this is one."

A guilty plea could have ended the case against The Game, reports the Associated Press.

Lichtman said that charges were harrassment and a "new low" for the police. He added, "This case will end in a dismissal or an acquittal."

The Game also faces charges stemming from a Los Angeles incident in which he allegedly punched a man on an opposing basketball team and threatened him with a gun, as previously reported.
