NATIONWIDE MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE nominees THE GO! TEAM are to release a new single before going on a headlining UK tour.

The band, who are nominated for their debut album ’Thunder, Lightning, Strike’, will play several shows across Britain.

The dates are:

London Astoria (October 7)
Glasgow QMU (8)
Manchester Academy 2 (9)

For ticket availability, go to NME Tickets or call them on 0870 1 663

A single, ’Bottle Rocket’, will be lifted from the album on September 26, backed by two brand new tracks ’We Just Won’t Be Defeated’ and ’If You Feel It Too?’.

The album gets re-released on October 3 with bonus tracks and new live favourites ’Hold Yr Terror Close’ and ’We Just Won’t Be Defeated’.

The band, currently playing in LA in the middle of a sell-out world tour have given their reaction to being nominated for this year’s Nationwide Mercury Music Prize. Team leader Ian Parton said: “I'm not an award ceremonies kinda fella but to get acknowledgement for something which was recorded in a DIY styley and put out without a big fuss and a big budget feels pretty good.”

He added: “I am kinda in the Woody Allen school of thought with winning awards - how can you possibly measure something as personal as music and come out with one victor? But again, it’s amazing to be nominated and it should be a pretty funny day.”
