Surviving members donate archive material
The Grateful Dead have donated a cache of band memorabilia and archives to a university.
The surviving members of the rock veterans have donated the material to the University of California at Santa Cruz, band spokesman Dennis McNally confirmed today (August 25).
According to the BBC, a large quantity of band correspondence has been donated, although no recordings. Former guitarist Bob Weir and drummer Mickey Hart made the announcement at San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium, a place where the psychedelic rockers played several times.
The band have been largely inactive since the death of frontman Jerry Garcia in 1995.
