Festival offering 'luxury camping packages' to combat touting

T in the Park have announced new measures to combat ticket touting.

In a statement, organisers said they were recommending ticketholders to sign up to Ticketmasters' TicketExchange system, which allows ticket holders to resell their briefs at genuine face value.

Secondly, from May 10 Luxury Camping Packages will go on sale.

This includes bespoke camping tickets (which include hotel rooms at the Yurt hotel, tipis and pod pad) hospitality passes and shower/spa facilities.

Tom Baxter and The Hold Steady have also been added to the Pet Sounds Arena's line-up on July 12, and Yeasayer who will play the Future Stage on July 13.

Aye, cracking idea Geoff Ellis. Charge people desperate to go to T in the Park over a grand to sleep in a posh tent and access a private area filled with the sort of brainless idiots who would actually pay such stupid money in the first place. Bam! That'll sort out those pesky touts who 'rip people off' and charge the market rate for festival tickets because supply outstrips demand. If you can't beat 'em...

It really annoys me, this whole luxury festival thing. Half of the festival experience is roughing it for a weekend, not having a proper wash and looking/smelling like a skank. All these luxury packages cater for are wannabee celebrities with money. Its so annoying that festivals now sell out before anyone s announced too - proof that its not about the music anymore, which is a pretty sad thing. That said, Id never defend touts - they are out of order and its such a lazy, dishonest way to 'earn' money. The ticket exchange thing is a pretty good idea though I think though. Hopefully it'll work and see real music fans get the tickets.
