The Holloways start work on second album The Holloways Tickets

Alfie Jackson sends NME.COM a message from the studio

The Holloways have began work on their album - and are planning to play live dates showcasing it by the summer.

The London four-piece are in Sawmills Studio in Cornwall recording their follow up to 'So This is Great Britain?' at the moment.

Lead singer Alfie Jackson told NME.COM that the band are planning to “to get the album out for June with a single a month or two before that. We want it out around the time of the festivals because we love them”.

Jackson explained that sessions were currently going well.

“It’s absolutely gorgeous here, it's in the middle of a lake, surrounded by beautiful trees and sunshine," said Jackson. "It’s an amazing, legendary studio. Loads of great albums have been made down here, Supergrass, Muse and Oasis. We’ve just got too many songs, that’s the problem.”

He added that this record would differ to their first effort, saying: “I think the main thing is being in a studio with a certain vibe to it and having a little bit more time to experiment with other instruments which we didn’t have on the first album.”

With sessions going well, the band are then hopeful of hitting the road again soon.

“We’re going to be heading out on the road again once the album is done,” explained Jackson. “We’re probably going to be playing the launch of The Garage at the bottom of Holloway Road (in north London) when it reopens next week.”

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2008 are coming soon – and it’s time to have your say. Vote now by heading to NME.COM/awardsvote and you could win VIP tickets to the ceremony, which takes place in London on February 28.

I saw them last nite, and they weren't brilliant. I only went cos I had free tickets, but it was so funny, they were supporting Madness (who were awful) and after they played they came and sat near us and started dancing like all the other diehard Madness fans. The crowd were very funny to watch.
