The Joy Formidable's singer Ritzy Bryan has defended her attempt to smash up her guitar at this year's Leeds Festival.

The frontwoman attempted to repeatedly obliterate her guitar onstage during opening track 'Whirring' last month, but failed to break it in two.

"There was something playful about it," she explained in an interview with this week's NME. "But I think that our music allows for that physicality. Whenever we play 'Whirring' my guitar always takes a beating."
