The Killers explain new album tracklisting

Brandon Flowers has revealed the logic behind the tracklisting for his band’s second album.

The Killers release 'Sam’s Town' today (October 2), and the singer has now explained the placing of the opening two tracks, which has confused some fans.

The record starts with the title track before it is quickly followed by ’Enterlude’.

With that song containing the lyric: “We hope you enjoy your stay/ it’s great to have you with us even if it’s just for one day”, some have wondered why the track doesn’t open the LP.

However speaking to NME.COM, Flowers explained ’Sam’s Town’ went first because of the impact the band were hoping to create.

“We just wanted to say we’re back and we’re proud, and ‘Sam’s Town’ is that,” he said of the title track.

“’Enterlude’ is just a nice refrain,” he added. “It’s almost like the beginning of a sitcom or a movie where you’re welcomed into the place before you see the credits. That’s what it feels like. Is ‘Sam’s Town’ like the stand up bit in 'Seinfield' and ’Enterlude’ the theme? (laughs) Yeah, it’s a bit like that.”

Flowers added the band were extremely proud of the new record, adding that new track ’Read My Mind’ “is the best song we’ve ever written”.
