The Killers played their last UK show "for a long time" as they closed the V Festival in Staffordshire tonight (August 23).

The band wrapped up their 'Day & Age' tour with a spectacular hit-laden set on the V Stage at Weston Park.

Singer Brandon Flowers, who was sporting a sparkly black jacket, hailed the crowd early on as he asked: "Is it too early to say you're better than Chelmsford?"

The Las Vegas band, who decked out their stage set with bright lights like a scene from their hometown, powered through a similar set to the one in Essex, only this time they kicked off with hit single 'Spaceman'.

The four piece later sent the huge crowd into a frenzy for festival anthems 'Mr Brightside', 'Somebody Told Me', 'Human' and 'All These Things That I've Done'.

The band also threw in a stripped down version of 'Smile Like You Mean It', roping in a violinist while Flowers performed the hit on the piano.

"Thank you so much. You're too good to us," he gushed afterwards, clearly humbled by the crowd's response.

As the band wrapped up their performance with 'When You Were Young', Flowers told the crowd: "This is our last show in the UK for a long time. We are going to play this last song as hard as we can. Are you going to receive it as hard as you can? OK boys let's see what this motherfucker can do!"

The Killers played:

'Spaceman'
'This Is Your Life'
'Somebody Told Me'
'For Reasons Unknown'
'The World We Live In'
'Bling (Confessions Of A King)'
'Shadowplay'
'Bones'
'Smile Like You Mean It'
'Human'
'A Dustland Fairytale'
'Read My Mind'
'Mr Brightside'
'All These Things That I've Done'
'Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine'
'When You Were Young'
