The Killers have released an official apology to fans in Manchester after they pulled last night's show at the MEN Arena four songs into the performance and then also cancelled tonight's planned show at the same venue.

The band took to their Facebook page to deliver an official statement, in which they quoted The Smiths' 1987 single 'I Started Something I Couldn't Finish' as well as alluding to Morrissey's 'Suedehead', as part of the apology. The band wrote:

Manchester, we started something we couldn't finish and we're so, so sorry. Working on rescheduling tonight and tomorrow's shows. Will let you know new dates ASAP. ?K

The shows were pulled after frontman Brandon Flowers lost his voice.

During last night's performance he told the crowd: "I'm sorry I've never had to do this before but we've gotta stop. I can't sing… I don't know what else to tell you. I'm sorry. I know it's frustrating for you and I'm sorry."

The band's London shows at the O2 Arena this Friday (November 16) and Saturday (17) are still set to go ahead as planned.

The band intend to reschedule the shows, with Flowers telling the Manchester audience: "I promise that we will come back. This is the town we most look forward most to coming to. This is our musical home and I'm sorry for this."
