The Killers have given an update on the song they've recorded with Anthony Gonzalez of M83.

The band first revealed that they were working with Gonzalez in an interview with NME shortly before their huge headline show at London's Wembley Stadium on June 22.

Now guitarist Dave Keuning has told Radio.com that the song is nearly finished and said: "I think it will be a great single when it comes out."

Pressed for exact details about the song's release, Keuning replied: "I can't promise a date, but I think we would like to release the song on some level and I don't know how. I'm not saying a new album is going to come out or anything like that. But sometimes people just put out songs or it gets used for some kind of compilation. We'd like to get a new song out there soon."

He also revealed that the band would be interested in working with Gonzalez again in the future. "I think it's definitely possible," Keuning said, before adding jokily: "I'd say maybe there's a 65 per cent chance we'll work with him again."

Last week (August 2), The Killers were joined onstage by New Order's Bernard Sumner at Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. Sumner played on The Killers' rendition of 'Shadowplay', a song by his former band Joy Division.
