The Killers tease new single 'Shot At The Night' with Morse code message
The band are rumoured to be releasing a greatest hits album to coincide with the 10th anniversary of their first London gig
The message was posted on Twitter today with fans speculating that, translated, the code spells out the title of 'Shot At The Night', the single the band have worked on with M83's Anthony Gonzalez. Today's message follows a similar "Big News Coming Soon…" post on The Killers' Facebook page on August 30 and another message from September 3, which said simply: "September 16th, the 10-year anniversary of our first show in London… #ShotAtTheNight".
The post saw fans guessing that the 'big news' could either be a greatest hits album or the announcement of an anniversary gig. Rumours of a greatest hits album for the band have been doing the rounds on The Killers' fan forums recently, with suggestions that one or two new songs would feature on such a release – possibly including the recent collaboration with M83.
Earlier this year The Killers' drummer Ronnie Vannucci revealed that the band were already working on their fifth album, despite only releasing their last LP, 'Battle Born', at the end of 2012. "I hope there's a new album soon. We've been working on stuff," he said. "We were in the studio just the week before last. I want to put out a new record now but it's about getting us all on the same page. I bring a guitar with me everywhere. Playing the same songs over and over again is like having the same dinner every night. So you want to start getting in the kitchen and experimenting a bit."
