The Killers' guitarist Dave Keuning has said that he is "sick" of touring with the band.

Keuning spoke to NME backstage at the band's recent gig in Shanghai, a show bassist Mark Stoermer did not perform at due to "personal reasons". You can read the full interview in this week's issue, available digitally and on newsstands now.

Speaking about life on the road, Keuning admits: "I am sick of this. I'm done. The end is in sight. Some people might go, 'Why are you complaining?' But you haven't done what I have done, so you can't relate. We just toured a shitload."

Both frontman Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vanucci commented on Stoermer's absence from the band's Asian gigs, with Vanucci saying: "I don't want to blow the top on it. Being part of this machine is physical and mentally exhausting." Asked if the band would carry on if Stoermer quit, he adds: "I'd hope we'd keep trucking on. But at the same time, it isn't the same band."

Elsewhere in the interview, frontman Brandon Flowers revealed that he plans to spend 2014 writing and recording a new solo album and said he will be taking steps toward a 2015 release of the album when he finishes touring with the band.

The Killers recently announced plans to release their first Best Of – titled 'Direct Hits' – on November 11.

The 15-song compilation will feature two brand new songs – 'Just Another Girl', which sees the band reunite with longtime collaborator Stuart Price, and 'Shot At The Night', which will be released as a single on November 4, and is produced by M83's Anthony Gonzalez. Deluxe versions of the album will include a demo version of 'Mr Brightside' and a Calvin Harris remix of 'When You Were Young'.
