Lindsay Lohan has hinted that she has been working in the recording studio with The Kills man Jamie Hince.

Earlier this week, actress and singer Lohan posted a series of pictures on her Instagram account which suggested she had been collaborating with Hince on a new project. One image showed her sitting at a mixing desk while another featured a signed copy of a record by The Kills, which she hashtagged #jamiehince and #studiotime.

According to the Daily Mirror, a friend of Lohan's said she was keen to leave behind her pop music past and pursue a rockier direction in the future. "Lindsay’s really embarrassed by that music, it was really poppy and cheesy," they said. "She sees herself as far more credible now. Jamie is one of her idols – she loves The Kills and sees herself as a bit of a rock chick.”

Lohan completed a stint in rehab earlier this year. It was recently revealed that she will star in an eight-part reality series in the future, which will apparently follow her attempts to remain healthy and rebuild her acting career. The show, which was commissioned by Oprah Winfrey's OWN network, is due to air in 2014.

Lohan's last film The Canyons, a film noir which was scripted by American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis, opened to largely negative reviews earlier this year. The Kills, meanwhile, released their last studio album 'Blood Pressures' in 2011, with Hince also marrying model Kate Moss later that year.
