Rock drummer dead at 55

He played with Dylan and Harrison and produced Hendrix

Bruce Gary, drummer in 70s rock band The Knack, has died of lymphoma aged 55.

Most famous for their 1979 hit single ‘My Sharona’, The Knack are still performing today, although Gary did not participate in their recent reunions.

Gary also played drums with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Stephen Stills and Yoko Ono, and produced many of Jimi Hendrix’s posthumous archive recordings.

A statement on The Knack’s official website reads: “We are shocked and saddened by Bruce’s death. He was an integral part of our sound not to mention a great drummer. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and loved ones.”
