Kooks beat 'fucking fuck-up' to play 11th hour London show The Kooks Tickets

Band play acoustic set after venue switch

The Kooks played a last-minute acoustic show in London last night (April 9) after being forced to switch their gig at short notice.

The band, who release second album 'Konk' on Monday (April 14), were due to play for competition winners at a shop, but had to move the show to the Fly venue on New Oxford Street at the eleventh hour.

Following queues around the block, as the original gig-goers were processed via a guestlist, the band's frontman Luke Pritchard and guitarist Hugh Harris played as a duo – watched by their bandmates and around 300 fans who packed into the tiny basement venue.

"Thanks for coming down to see us, I know there was a fucking fuck-up with the shop, but really it's great to be here," explained Pritchard, as the band kicked off an ad hoc set which saw the pair deciding what to play as they went along.

At one point the singer even asked for requests, asking "do you want us to play anything?", as they performed a set including second album track 'Mr Maker' and Bob Dylan cover 'The Man In Me'.

Rounding off the show with the crowd loudly singing along, Pritchard introduced 'She Moves In Her Own Way' by declaring: "We've got one last song, then we're off. We've been half The Kooks!"
