Lee Mavers 'doesn't see the point in reforming the La's'

He also has a sly dig at Noel Gallagher for stealing one of his songs

The La's estranged frontman Lee Mavers has said he doesn't see any point in reforming the band.

A La's fan who met Mavers at Liverpool club Heebie Jeebies posted a message about his encounter with the singer on Thela's.org, reports Planet Sound.

When the fan, whose username is Keefey, asked Mavers about reforming the iconic band to record a new album, the singer said that he "Doesn't see the point".

After making the statement, Mavers' brother Neil (who was also a member of The La's) playfully started to taunt him about bringing out some new material.

The singer also took the opportunity to disown the now legendary 'Kitchen Tape', a 1989 rehearsal recording of The La's featuring a number of unreleased songs that was leaked online in 2006.

Despite fans lauding the bootleg as featuring some of the best material from the band ever committed to tape, Mavers called the recording "A load of fucking garbage."

He also gave his opinion on Noel Gallagher, who copied the introduction of The La's' 'Clean Prophet' for Oasis' 'The Importance Of Being Idle'.

"Noel needs to realise the importance of being honest," said Mavers.

The La's reunited for a brief UK tour in 2005, including a date at Glastonbury. Since then, Mavers has once again retreated from the music business completely.

The band's only, self-titled album was released in 1990.

Recently, their most famous song 'There She Goes' caused controversy after a Eurovision Song Contest entrant appeared to plagiarise it.
