Alex Turner and Miles Kane play second New York gig

Free late-night performance riddled with difficulties

Alex Turner and Miles Kane played their second-ever show in New York City last night (March 5), with a secret performance on the Lower East Side.

The pair took to the stage at tiny Cake Shop just before 1am, and made their way through a similar set as the previous night’s show at Brooklyn’s Soundfix.

Unlike Tuesday night’s smooth set, last night was riddled with technical difficulties for the pair who fought screeching feedback throughout, and were unable to hear the onstage monitors.

After repeated pleas with the ‘man at the back’ on the sound desk to sort out the sound, Turner and Kane battled their way through seven songs as the crowd’s interest dwindled due to the poor sound quality.

One crowd member’s repeated calls for the Arctic Monkeys’ track ‘When The Sun Goes Down’ prompted laughs from Kane and disbelieving looks from Turner.

'In My Room'
'Standing Next To Me'
'The Chamber'
'Only The Truth'
'My Mistakes'
'The Age Of The Understatement'
'Meeting Place'

Following the show the pair decamped to an East Village bar to join Adam Green and The StrokesFabrizio Moretti.

Meanwhile, the duo have posted the music video for their debut single, 'The Age Of Understatement' online, allowing fans to hear the song before its April release.

stupid song, original video. Don't see the point in Shadow Puppets to be honest, they're not as good as Arctic Monkeys or The Rascals.

@Emilee: Actually, I don't see what is wrong with them having differing opinions. They are kind of correct on the video- the lip syncing is pretty funny, especially given they're trying to be extremely serious with all the Russian imagery. The song itself just doesn't seem to go anywhere and the lyrics are a bit piss poor (big words don't make clever lyrics you know).

To be honest, it doesn't seem as good as Arctics' second album, which was bloody brilliant.
