Last Shadow Puppets and Jack White play secret Glastonbury gig

Arctic Monkeys also join Park Stage surprise show

The Last Shadow Puppets teamed up with Jack White to play a surprise gig at Glastonbury tonight (June 28).

A large crowd gathered at the Park Stage to watch Alex Turner and Miles Kane play an acoustic set drawn from 'The Age Of The Understatement'.

Playing as a duo, the pair kicked off with 'My Mistakes Were Made For You' and 'Only The Truth'.

Joined by their keyboard player, they then played a stripped-down version of 'Calm Like You', after which the pair swapped guitars for 'Standing Next To Me'.

The trio then played 'The Chamber' and 'The Meeting Place', after which Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders stepped in to add drums for the title track from 'The Age Of The Understatement'.

After the drummer left the stage, Turner explained, "we've only got the chance for one more", as the pair put down the guitars and started singing along to a keyboard-led cover of Billy Fury's 'Wondrous Place'.

After several bars, Jack White, who had played on the Pyramid Stage with The Raconteurs earlier in the evening, took to the stage unannounced to play a guitar solo, before departing after his work was done, leaving the duo to finish the song.

Speaking to NME.COM, the pair explained they had simply bumped into White backstage. "We just asked him and he said yes," explained Kane. "I had to play him the song on my iPod so he could learn it."
