Last Shadow Puppets play 'last gig' in Los Angeles

The Last Shadow Puppets played their last gig for the time being in Los Angeles last night (November 3) as the duo prepare to go back to their main bands.

Wrapping up their US tour, which also included a show in New York, Alex Turner and Miles Kane were backed by a full orchestra at the Mayan Theatre.

"We're very happy to be here, very happy our last gig is in LA, but we're not very happy it's our last gig. It's a little sad. Miles might get a little emotional," Turner told the crowd as the band took the stage.

The band kicked off with 'In My Room', before launching into single 'The Age Of Understatement'.

"We're going to play a little Beatles jam," Kane told the crowd as they performed their version of The Beatles' 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' from 'Abbey Road'.

They duo also performed David Bowie's 'In The Heat of the Morning', which had previously featured as a b-side.

"How many more can you handle, LA?" Turner asked the packed audience before launching into 'I Don't Like You Anymore'.

As the evening reached its climax, Kane explained: "I really regret to inform you that this is our last tune. Thank you very much for having us. It's an amazing place, LA."

They then played 'Meeting Place' and the duo strolled offstage as their band continued playing.

Turner and Kane returned for a two-song encore, playing a version of Leonard Cohen's 'Memories' and set closer 'Standing Next To Me', which earned the pair a standing ovation.
