This is a joke and an insult to anyone who supported or loved the band over the years. The tracks are obviously hastily thrown together without any thought or consideration - probably by geoff travis trying to make a few quid before it's too late. Doherty, Barat, Powell and Hassall have blatantly had no input. It's got no soul. There are far more deserved tracks which could have been put up there. How can it be called a 'Best Of' when it has only covered a small period of the bands existence? A load of rubbish and anyone buying a copy needs a good slap.

That is all.

'Last Post On The Bugle' seems a bit of a miss to me. Plus the odd b-side or rarity wouldhave really made this compilation fly.

This is a tasteless money spinning excercise. This is just like someone like The Cribs releasing a Best Of

I'm surprised The Good Old Days didn't make it. It soundtracked some of their best moments - not to mention being the last song The Libertines ever played together in the classic formation at Club Infinity in 2004.

Good timing!
Christmas is coming, the charts are getting thin. It's time for best of's bonanza.

A hastilly put together, cynical cash in of the highest order. Yes, we all know this, but will it make a slight bit of difference?

Boycott it if you will, but of course it will sell amongst the emos, the 3am girls and.. your dad, probably.

This goes against what the Libs originally stood for - ie. avoiding all that pointless corporate ligging. Why not release the Razzcocks demos? You know, something there's actually some demand for.

The tracklist is so fucking safe. No 'Horrorshow', no 'Seven Deadly Sins', no 'Plan A', no 'Good Old Days'. I mean, I know best-of's are often a safe representation of band's back-cats, but there are some seriously popular songs not included.

It is quite depressing to see one of Britain's best bands of the last decade being sold out even more than they have already. The drugs, tabloids, and subsequent fall out was bad enough, but this is taking the piss out of the music and fans.

I didn't think they would ever do this to be honest. I'm surprised they have.
As far as the tracklisting goes it should be called 'Best Known' rather than 'Best Of'.

As pointless as the Stone Roses best of. There were only 2 albums and surely every Libs fan owns them both anyway. What is the point? Clearly just a money maker in the build up to Christmas i guess!

I've heard some crackers in my time - Pete Doherty trying to speak English, stand up and not make a tit of himself in general to name a few - but this is feckin ridiculous. How does a band whose career amounts to two whole albums, albeit good ones, merit a best of collection. I mean Oasis and U2, bands whose career spans 15 and nearly 25 years respectively get stick for it but The Libertines don't? Excuse me while I choke on the egocentricity of it all.

Timing is everything... Christmas is coming, and it's time for the obligatory spewing of best of compilations. I suppose while the Albion was still sailing on an indie sea, the Libertines were the band least likely to warrant a best of. What a difference a few years make, and now Pete is a tabloid daling of the highest order and fans of Pete (the indie-light brigade) are demanding more, more more.
Going to HMV and actually searching in the 'L's for a nice little copy of 'Up the Braket' is obviously a little too much effort for some people - or so goes the pre Christmas marketing meeting - so let's put a few finely placed TV commecials on late night Channel 4 and put some posters up in Virgin Megastores.
Of course we all know it's a cynical cash in of the highest order, a hastilly put together pile of wank, and boycott it if you will. But it's not going to make a blind bit of difference.

Hmmm not unexpected, doherty is gonna b raking it in with new 'shambles album out too.

The track listing is missing music when the lights go out, narcissit, good old days and mocking bird.

Wow. This is total trash. Well... I can't take this seriously, and I suppose neither can most Libertines fans.

I don't know wot all you haters are talking about - I think its amazin the libs are getting more recognition, the best of can only mean more and more people will hear them and their genius songs. Why are u all complainin dont you want to keep the band in the public eye!

This is the greatest day for libs fans for a long time!

I bet The Libertines themselves didn't have a say in the tracklisting.

If they did they wouldn't have missed out on all the OTHER GEMS?!? Waterloo? Breck Rd? Horrorshow? Cyclops?

I suppose its a good way to attract new fans, still.

The Libertines should stand for so much more than this crass, greedy, cynical attempt to hit the Christmas market. To make matters worse the track listing is so obvious, clearly chosen by someone with no real affinity for the band, their fans and what they stood for.

I can see where you lot are all coming from as i generally also dislike best off's, however when the Libertines were in their prime i was only about 8 and didnt really listen to music, so i did not get to experience them (something i greatly regrett now) and if it was'nt for this new CD i would never have discovered them bought the first two CD's and found out how amazing they were/ are
