Carl Barat, Babyshambles, The View, Reverend play Libertines songs in London

Former Libertine Carl Barat joined forces with Babyshambles' Drew McConnell, The View's Kyle Falconer and Jon 'The Reverend' McClure last night (December 16) to play two Libertines songs live in north London.

The collective, with Reverend And The Makers' Stuart Doughty on drums, played two songs at the Boston Arms in Tufnell Park, where McConnell and McClure's side project Mongrel were hosting a gig.

Before the ensemble gathered on stage Falconer played a short solo set with just vocals and electric guitar. Then the others joined him to play The Libertines' singles 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' and 'Can't Stand Me Now'.

After the impromptu set, which had followed a short performance from McConnell's new three-piece punk band The Traitors, Mongrel played a full live show.

The set included 'Lies', 'The Menace' and 'Julian' – all songs set to feature on the band's debut album, 'Better Than Heavy', set for release in February.

Following the show McClure invited audience members to join them onstage for a jam, with Babyshambles guitarist Mik Whitnall among those who accepted the invitation.
