Carl Barât has told NME that Pete Doherty got "arrested" during The Libertines' rehearsals for this weekend's Reading And Leeds Festivals (August 27-29) gigs.

In an interview you can read in full in this week's issue of NME, (out nationwide now and also available digitally worldwide), Barât described what a recent day's rehearsal for the band encompassed.

"I turned up at 12, no-one was here, so I ended up going and having my haircut," Barât explained, before saying he later hooked up with the rest of The Libertines at the studio, though Doherty ran into a spot of bother with police.

"Peter got arrested in the middle of the road," he said, adding: "Well, he got recognised by the police who were doing a little bit of lazy detective work."

Barât went on to say that although Doherty was stopped, "he didn't have anything on him", so was not detained.

The Libertines are now set to play Leeds Festival tonight (August 27) and Reading Festival tomorrow.

NME is coming live from both sites at Reading And Leeds Festivals this weekend. Head to NME.COM/festivals for full coverage including news, reviews, videos and picture galleries.
