Carl Barat has hinted at a Libertines reunion with Pete Doherty, telling NME the pair will "pick up where we left off" in the future in an exclusive video interview you can watch above.
As reported in last week's issue of NME (March 3), the pair met up at London's Camden Head pub on February 23. Last May, Barat had told NME that there was "no Libertines future" amid rumours of a bust up with Doherty following the band's 2010 reunion shows.
But now Barat admitted that although he and Doherty have no current plans to work together at the moment, he expects the situation to change in the future.
"I'm always out with Pete," he said. "Just sometimes I'm out with Pete in a visible place and other times not. We had a good chat and we're both getting on fine."
He went on to add:
We're both doing different things, [but] I'm sure at some point we'll pick up where we left off when it's needed.
In last week's NME, it was reported that The Libertines had tentatively agreed to release a 'lost' album featuring songs that were recorded before the band signed to Rough Trade in 2001. The tracks are owned by their former drummer, Paul 'Mr Razzcocks' Dufour, who said the recordings could be released as "early as June".
Meanwhile, There Are No Innocent Bystanders, NME photographer Roger Sargent's film about the band's 2010 reunion shows, is touring six UK venues later this month.
